Five goals I would like to set for this subject:

  1. Listen
  2. Concentrate
  3. Have fun
  4. Learn as much as I can
  5. Enjoy what we do

Three ways i can get there:
1. Listen
2. Have fun
3. Learn as much as I can about our world

What have I learnt in the past month?
I have learnt how to make an animated Gif on the computer and how to transfer a work document onto the wikispaces.
What I did I do to help myself learn?
I used the internet outside of the class and did the work and looked up extra things to do with the topic. I also did the homework.
What did you do to make it difficult to learn?
I would try and find a way to make my work look better but in a more complex way.
Who did you work with? Were these effefctive working relationships?
I worked well with the people I know like Alice,Ben and the two Mark's so yes I worked well with the people I was put with.
How did I go meeting my goals this semester?
I met my goals well this semester but some of them are harder to meet than others.

My best peice of work so far is my essay on the First Fleet.
It is my best because I knew what I was doing and tried my best and I got a 14 out of 15 which is a great score for me.
My other peice of work was the Captain Cook sheet but the answers were written on the sheet we just had to read through it to find the answers.

During the past few weeks: I have been working fine and have coped with the work tasks given to us.
I have learnt about: Settlement and how it was back in those times.
I most enjoyed the SOSE class on: The first fleet.
My attitude has: Been fine as far as I know anyway.
My behaviour has: Not changed (and that is a good thing.)
My intern report in the subject indicated that I am coping fine with the work.
I have worked to the best of my ability.
I have not stopped trying.
My greatest strength is being persistant.
The two areas of my learning that I want to focus on improving are:
1.Spelling
2.Talking more
I am happy with the way that I am going in Sose.

Stories
Why the Wombat has no tail and the Kangaroo does.

  • Kuyim the Kangaroo and Warin the wombat used to be friends who shared everything.
  • One day Warin dug a hole and slept in it at night when it was cold.
  • Kuyim asked Warin if he would share his shelter with him and Warin said no.
  • A battle broke out and Kuyim got a spear stuck in his back.
  • That is why the wombat has no tail and the Kangaroo has a long straight tail.

Animals
Koala

  • The Koalas were caught by climbing trees using a rope sling made out of bark.
  • Using an axe they would knock holes into the tree which get used for footing.
  • They would slowly work their way up the tree to catch the Koala.
  • The Koalas would be cooked with their skin on.
  • The skin was never used for clothing.

Rabbit Proof Fence

It is a touching movie that shows how the aboriginals were treated and taken away from their family so they could live the way the British people wanted them to live.
The good thing about this movie is that the children find their way home and get left alone.
It was weird how the people check for the fair ones because they were smarter so they could go to a real school to get a better education. But in my opinion it is stupid how they did that because the way we look like does not change who we really are.

When Molly came back home she was still sad because she said she lost one of the members.
They must have been fit to have found and followed the fence back to their home.
Even though Molly was not that old her tracking skills were really good as well as her hearing.
I found it interesting how Gracie, Molly and Daisy managed to escape from the tracker who must have been experienced.

It was mean how the British used the trackers daughter to get him to work for them.
I would not blame them to want to get away from the place where they were because it was strange to them and it was a huge change and they were not ones that wanted to adapt to this change.

Not very many children managed to escape because they would get caught again and put alone in a shed which is cruel.

During the Aboriginal unit I most enjoyed our SOSE class on: The tribes and where they were located in Australia.
During the Aboriginal unit I least enjoyed the SOSE class on: Our Power point and when we did the oral for it.
SOSE (Me and My World) is: Different every year but Sose this year is basic enough to understand.
During this first semester in SOSE I have: Done the work.
I work best when: I am working with a person I know or when it is not loud.
I have not: missed much work.
I wish that: The work could be a little more of a challange.
My attitude to homework has been: Ok because I have done it to my best ability.
My Semester 1 report will show that: I have done well and have a good report.
The area/s in which I have shown greatest improvement: Is my presentations even though I don't like them I still do it.
My teacher always: Tries to get us to try our best.
My teacher makes me: Try my best.
I think that our class wiki is: Good and the quiz on the wiki are a challange.
High Expectations means: That we try our hardest.
I have shown high expectations when I: Have done my best.
A second example of how I have demonstrated high expectations is; I give things a go.

Three of my goals for Semester Two in this subject are:

1. Try and get high attendence.
2. Work on orals.
3. Practice team work skills with others not only my friends.

I have set these goals because:
They are the things I need to work on more to get better at it and also if I do not give it a go you do not know how good you really can be.

"Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen". – John Steinbeck

This applies to me because that saying is true and is saying that if you get two ideas you can expand it and soon you will have many ideas or you could put them together and get a really good idea.
But this saying could apply to anyone because anyone can make their ideas bigger and better it is just the simple matter of planning and most of all thinking.

How effectively have you used class time? I think that I have used class time well enough.
How often have you completed homework tasks? As far as I know I have done all homework tasks.
What outstanding work do you still have? I have handed it all in and I keep most of my work that i get back.
In which area do you believe you have made your greatest improvement? I have been able to do the podcast recording and editing and I think my voice volume was alright.
What are two weaknesses you need to continue to work on?
I need to work on speaking up and my spelling.
I have most enjoyed learning more about the laws and hearing about the elephant in the hotel law.
I have learned that Most people fear and dislike the police.
I have shown high expectations when I complete my work on time
I have demonstrated the following skills and abilities which will help me to succeed at Year 10 next year: doing the work, keeping up to date and that I can do the pod cast.
Students in 9P2 never
always hand in work
Students in 9P2 always muck about
Student Support sessions are good i think but I have not gone to them at all so I can't be sure.

Respond to the following and how you might apply the idea to your studies:
Q How do you eat an elephant?
A One bite at a time!

It means that if you are doing something big or hard you need to do it one step at a time you can not do it all at once you must take your time and not rush.

a. Are you on-track to achieving your Semester 2 goals in this subject? - I think I have met my goals for this semester event the whole year except my talking more.
b. What do you believe have been the three most important things you have learnt?
  1. What is going on in the world.
  2. What it was like back when the first Fleet came to Australia.
  3. Treatment of the Aboriginals.

c. Select a lesson which you thought was the best and explain why you believe it was the best. The best lessons are the ones when we did the free rice game on the internet because we give rice for each question we get correct.
d. How much Homework have you completed? I think i have completed all the homework and classwork.
e. In what ways do you always "do your best" in this subject? I just try and put as much effort into my work as I can and I hand it in on time.
f. Do you have "high expectations" in this subject? Yes I do have high expectations for this subject because people can get alot out of it but it is just a matter of if people want to listen and get as much out of it as possible.
g. What extra help do you need from your teacher to help you learn and to improve your skills? I do not know at all what i need help with except spelling.
h. Are you happy with your progress and achievement in this subject? Yes i am happy with what I have done in this subject this year.
i. How many times have you been recognised on the "Hall of Fame" wiki page and how do you feel about this? I think I have been put on the hall of fame twice.
j. My teacher always ....... Tries to get our class to get as much out of this subject as possible and to try our best with our work. And our teacher is straight out on the thourght of keeping us down and sometimes brings people back down to reality of us passing if we do good and failing if we do bad.
